Cars on Railroad Siding

With a combination of a photo shot in infrared, adding some sepia toning, and a little creative framing, you have a modern photo that raises questions in anyone’s mind as to just exactly how old is it! This photo was taken just a couple of days ago (6/3/10) on a walk along the railroad tracks just behind the train station on 7th Street in Perkasie.
Covered Bridge in Infrared

I recently started exploring infrared photography. I just had one of my older digital cameras, a Canon PowerShot G9, still a very capable camera, converted for infrared photography. In film days, we used infrared film for shots like this. But now with digital cameras, it requires a modified camera sensor for the most efficient recording of infrared light. I used a company in Massachusetts, Digital Silver Imaging, to convert my G9.
It was after 8 PM, almost dark, and in light rain when I took this photo from my car window (a drive-by shooting?) — definitely not ideal conditions, but still got a pretty nice result. I find infrared photography a fascinating medium, so you can expect to see more of Perkasie in infrared in future posts.
