After the Storm

Picnic Pavilion in Lenape Park

Picnic Pavilion in Lenape Park

What a difference ten minutes makes. You know the awesome clouds I mentioned yesterday? When I looked back through my photos from yesterday, I discovered one that had captured them, after all! This photo of the picnic pavilion in Lenape Park was taken just ten minutes before the photo of the covered bridge I posted yesterday. These are the clouds that caught my eye as I was returning to Perkasie. The sun had just broken through a hole in the clouds as I was taking this shot, and I was at the right place at the right time. This photo is a good illustration of why I always have a camera with me. It’s not just luck, but being prepared for when the light strikes!

Spring Storm

As I was driving past the park this afternoon, I noticed some awesome clouds in the western sky, just after the rain had stopped. I began looking for a subject to take advantage. The Covered Bridge in Lenape Park is one of my favorite subjects, so I decided to see if I could find a way to capture it along with the clouds. Well, by the time I got parked and walked over to the bridge, the clouds as I first saw them were pretty well gone; they had already started to break up. But they were still interesting, and coupled with the blossoms on a few of the trees around the bridge, made an interesting subject. This photo was the result, photographed today (4-13-10).

This building, located at 620 W. Chestnut Street in Perkasie, PA, was formerly home of Bucks County Bank & Trust Company. It was purchased and converted to Perkasie’s Borough Hall in 2002. It also houses several local businesses and organizations. This photo was taken April 6, 2010.

I photographed this beautiful view looking east on Market Street from Seventh Street yesterday (4/6/10) with the spring blossoms nearly at their peak. It’s another of my HDR (high dynamic range) photos, a composite of five separate exposures. It was quite windy when I shot it, so the blossoms are blurred slightly where the exposures didn’t quite match.

Welcome! Perkasie.com has become a photo blog, showing off the best (and maybe sometimes the less than best) of our beautiful community of the Borough of Perkasie. I’ve lived here more than 25 years — since 1984. I love walking around town and documenting what I see with my camera.

This first post includes a photo of the covered bridge in Lenape Park, just off Walnut Street and Constitution Avenue. It was taken February 9, 2010 just after one of our major snowfalls. It’s a stylized digital photo using my HDR technique (as are many of my recent photos), combining 5 separate exposures into one for more detail. It was also converted to black and white with a wash-type frame added.

I expect to add photos from around town to this site on a somewhat regular basis, so please stop back and visit again. Comments and questions are welcome.
